All patients at average risk for developing nutrition related problems should be asked about the number of portions of fruits and vegetables per day and the types of fat eaten every 2 years (B)
Patients at high risk should be provided a proper advice and referred to the dietician every 6 months (B)
Life style modification
Eat healthy balanced diet
Eat plenty of vegetables, legumes and fruits
Eat plenty of fibers
Eat plenty of cereals
Include lean meat, fish, poultry and/or alternatives with reduced fat varieties
Drink plenty of water
Limit saturated fat and moderate total fat
Low salt food
Moderate amount of sugar and food with added sugar
Prevent weight gain by physical activity and eat according to energy needs
